Galle Gallants Power Past Jaffna Kings with a 36-Run Victory

Galle Gallants produced an impressive all-round performance to secure a convincing 36-run victory over Jaffna Kings in an entertaining Lanka Premier League encounter.

Batting first, Galle Gallants posted a commanding 213 for 6 from their 20 overs, powered by an excellent innings from Charith Asalanka. He led the charge with a brilliant 65 from just 38 deliveries, striking seven fours and three sixes to keep the scoreboard moving at a rapid pace.

Sam Harper also played a key role at the top of the order, scoring a quick 40 off 19 balls, while Sahan Arachchige contributed a valuable 35 from 24 deliveries. Towards the end of the innings, captain Dasun Shanaka provided a spectacular finish, smashing an unbeaten 31 from only nine balls, including two fours and three sixes.

For Jaffna Kings, Lizaad Williams and Piyush Chawla picked up two wickets each, while Dunith Wellalage delivered an economical spell, conceding just 10 runs from his three overs and claiming one wicket.

Chasing a challenging target of 214, Jaffna Kings made a positive start but struggled to build the partnerships needed to keep up with the required run rate. Dunith Wellalage top-scored with a quick 40 from 24 balls, while Avishka Fernando contributed 34 from 21 deliveries.

Kamil Mishara added a rapid 28 from 14 balls, and Chamindu Wickramasinghe kept Jaffna’s hopes alive with an explosive 24 from just 10 deliveries. However, regular wickets prevented the Kings from mounting a sustained challenge.

Eshan Malinga was the standout bowler for Galle Gallants, producing an excellent spell to claim four wickets for 26 runs. Akif Javed also impressed with two wickets for 31 runs, as the Galle bowling attack successfully closed out the contest.

Jaffna Kings were eventually bowled out for 177 in 19.4 overs, handing Galle Gallants a well-deserved 36-run victory.

With powerful batting at the top and middle order, a blistering late finish from Shanaka, and a decisive bowling performance led by Malinga, Galle Gallants delivered a complete team performance to claim an impressive LPL win.
