Dambulla Sixers produced an impressive batting display to defeat Galle Gallants by six wickets in the eighth match of the Lanka Premier League 2026 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium.
After opting to bat first, Galle Gallants posted 178 for 8 in their 20 overs, with several batters making useful contributions but failing to convert promising starts into a match-defining innings.
Chamika Karunaratne top-scored with a well-made 45 off 30 deliveries, striking four boundaries and two sixes. Sam Harper provided early momentum with 40 from 22 balls, while Charith Asalanka chipped in with 25 and captain Dasun Shanaka added a quickfire 20 from just 10 deliveries. However, regular breakthroughs from the Dambulla bowlers prevented the Gallants from building a bigger total.
The Sixers’ bowling attack shared the wickets effectively. Fazalhaq Farooqi led the way with 3 for 39, while Marques Ackerman claimed 2 for 27. Maheesh Theekshana, Gulbadin Naib, and Vishwa Lahiru also picked up a wicket each to keep Galle under constant pressure.
Chasing 179 for victory, Dambulla Sixers made light work of the target with an aggressive and controlled batting performance, reaching 180 for 4 in just 16.1 overs.
Reeza Hendricks anchored the chase brilliantly with an unbeaten 64 from 37 balls, striking nine fours and a six. He found excellent support from Marques Ackerman, who scored 35 from 25 deliveries, while Pavan Rathnayake played a crucial cameo of 29 off only 11 balls, smashing three sixes to shift the momentum firmly in Dambulla’s favour.
The finishing touches came from Gulbadin Naib, who blasted an unbeaten 20 from just six deliveries, including three towering sixes, ensuring the Sixers completed the chase with 23 balls to spare.
Galle Gallants managed only a handful of breakthroughs, with Mohammad Nawaz, Eshan Malinga, Dasun Shanaka, and Chamika Karunaratne claiming one wicket each. However, the bowlers were unable to contain Dambulla’s relentless scoring rate.
A disciplined bowling effort followed by a fearless batting display helped Dambulla Sixers secure a convincing six-wicket victory over Galle Gallants at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium. Reeza Hendricks’ composed half-century and Gulbadin Naib’s explosive finish capped off a dominant performance as the Sixers continued their strong run in LPL 2026.
