Galle Gallants Crush Jaffna Kings by 60 Runs in Dambulla
Galle Gallants delivered a dominant all-round performance to record a comprehensive 60-run victory over Jaffna Kings in the 10th match of the Lanka Premier League 2026 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium.
Batting first, the Gallants posted an imposing 193 for 8 in their 20 overs after recovering from an early setback. Sahan Arachchige led the charge with a superb 63 off just 36 deliveries, striking four fours and three sixes to anchor the innings through the middle overs.
Chris Lynn provided the early momentum with a blistering 46 from 22 balls, smashing three boundaries and four sixes, while Chamika Karunaratne contributed a valuable 45 off 30 deliveries. Towards the end of the innings, Mohammad Nawaz added a quickfire 27 from 16 balls, helping Galle finish strongly after losing wickets at regular intervals.
Jaffna Kings’ bowlers shared the wickets around, with Dilshan Madushanka and Lizaad Williams claiming two wickets each. Dunith Wellalage, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mohamed Shiraz chipped in with one wicket apiece, but they were unable to prevent the Gallants from setting a challenging target.
In reply, Jaffna Kings endured a disastrous start, losing wickets regularly as Galle’s bowlers applied relentless pressure from the outset. Dunith Wellalage fought a lone battle with a spirited 56 off 39 balls, striking four fours and four sixes, while David Wiese added 22. However, none of the top-order batters managed to settle, leaving the Kings with too much to do.
Jaffna were eventually bowled out for 133 in 17.5 overs, handing Galle a convincing victory.
The Gallants’ bowling attack was outstanding throughout the innings. Tharindu Ratnayake and Eshan Malinga starred with three wickets each, while Akif Javed claimed an important wicket and conceded just 22 runs from his four overs. Vijayakanth Viyaskanth also chipped in with a wicket as Galle maintained control from start to finish.
