Galle Gallants
Kandy Royals

Kandy Royals held their nerve to secure an 11-run victory over Galle Gallants in the 11th match of the Lanka Premier League 2026 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium.
After being put in to bat, Kandy Royals recovered from an early collapse to post 165 for 6 in their 20 overs. Reduced to 24 for 3 inside the first five overs, the Royals rebuilt their innings through a crucial partnership between Moeen Ali and Dale Phillips.
Moeen top-scored with a fluent 41 off 29 deliveries, while Dale Phillips contributed 34 from 25 balls. Captain Angelo Mathews then played a composed unbeaten knock of 28 from 22 balls, with Vijay Shankar adding an unbeaten 15 to help Kandy finish with a competitive total.
Galle Gallants’ bowling attack shared the wickets effectively. Akif Javed and Pramod Madushan claimed two wickets each, while Vijayakanth Viyaskanth also picked up 2 for 36. Their disciplined spells kept the Royals from accelerating during the latter stages of the innings.
Chasing 166 for victory, Galle Gallants never found the momentum they needed despite a determined effort from captain Dasun Shanaka. The experienced all-rounder remained unbeaten on 57 from 38 balls, striking six fours and two sixes to keep his side in the contest until the final over.
Earlier, Chamika Karunaratne made a valuable 52 from 35 deliveries, but regular wickets at the other end halted Galle’s progress. The Gallants eventually finished on 154 for 8, falling 11 runs short of the target.
Kandy Royals produced an impressive bowling performance, led by Nuwan Thushara, who claimed 3 for 33. Asitha Fernando provided excellent support with 2 for 33, while Wanindu Hasaranga and Moeen Ali chipped in with a wicket each. The Royals maintained their discipline throughout the chase, applying pressure at key moments to deny Galle any late comeback.
A resilient batting effort after an early collapse, followed by a disciplined display with the ball, helped Kandy Royals record a hard-fought 11-run victory over Galle Gallants at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium. Moeen Ali’s all-round contribution and Nuwan Thushara’s crucial breakthroughs proved decisive as the Royals added another important win to their LPL 2026 campaign.
