Jaffna Kings Thrash Kandy Royals by 93 Runs in Dambulla

Jaffna Kings produced a commanding display with both bat and ball to register a resounding 93-run victory over Kandy Royals in the 13th match of the Lanka Premier League 2026 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium.

After electing to bat first, Jaffna Kings piled up an imposing 199 for 4 in their 20 overs, led by an outstanding opening partnership between Kamil Mishara and Avishka Fernando.

Mishara starred with a brilliant 78 off 53 deliveries, striking six fours and four sixes, while Avishka matched the aggression with a fluent 66 from 36 balls, featuring ten boundaries and two maximums. Their 160-run stand laid the perfect platform before Towhid Hridoy added the finishing touches with an unbeaten 35 from 21 balls, helping Jaffna finish just one run short of the 200-mark.

For Kandy Royals, Shaheen Shah Afridi was the standout bowler, returning impressive figures of 3 for 27, while Dushan Hemantha claimed the other wicket.

Chasing 200 for victory, Kandy Royals never recovered after losing early wickets. Opener Lahiru Udara fought hard with a well-made 54 off 41 balls, but he received little support as wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals.

No other batter was able to make a significant contribution, with Shaheen Shah Afridi’s 22 being the next highest score. The Royals were eventually bowled out for 106 in 18.2 overs, handing Jaffna a comprehensive victory.

Jaffna Kings’ bowling attack was clinical throughout the innings. Mohamed Shiraz and Dunith Wellalage shared the honours with three wickets each, while Shakib Al Hasan, Treveen Mathew, and David Wiese chipped in with a wicket apiece. The bowlers consistently applied pressure, never allowing Kandy to build meaningful partnerships.

A dominant batting display led by Kamil Mishara and Avishka Fernando, followed by a ruthless bowling performance spearheaded by Mohamed Shiraz and Dunith Wellalage, helped Jaffna Kings secure a convincing 93-run victory over Kandy Royals at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium. The emphatic win showcased Jaffna’s strength in all departments as they continued their LPL 2026 campaign in style.
