Jaffna Kings Defend 202 to Defeat Colombo Kaps by 19 Runs in Pallekele

Jaffna Kings produced a clinical all-round performance to defeat Colombo Kaps by 19 runs in the 15th match of the Lanka Premier League 2026 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

Batting first, Jaffna Kings posted an imposing 202 for 5 in their 20 overs, built around a magnificent innings from Ibrahim Zadran. The Afghan opener anchored the innings with a superb 95 off 65 deliveries, striking 12 fours and three sixes as he guided Jaffna to a commanding total.

He was well supported by Kamil Mishara, who gave the innings early momentum with a blistering 44 from just 19 balls, including six boundaries and two sixes. Towards the end of the innings, Towhid Hridoy provided the perfect finish, remaining unbeaten on 31 from only eight deliveries, smashing four sixes to lift Jaffna beyond the 200-run mark.

For Colombo Kaps, James Neesham was the most successful bowler with 2 for 30, while Mujeeb Ur Rahman claimed the other wicket.

In reply, Colombo Kaps lost an early wicket but stayed in the contest through several useful contributions. Sadeera Samarawickrama top-scored with 44 from 36 balls, while captain Kamindu Mendis played an aggressive knock of 28 from just 13 deliveries. Milan Rathnayake added 26, and Janith Liyanage contributed 20, but regular wickets prevented the Kaps from putting together a match-winning partnership.

Colombo eventually finished on 183 for 9, falling 19 runs short of the target.

Jaffna Kings’ bowling attack delivered under pressure, with Dilshan Madushanka leading the way with 3 for 30. Lizaad Williams provided excellent support with 2 for 47, while Mohamed Shiraz, Treveen Mathew, and Dunith Wellalage picked up a wicket each to keep the chase under control throughout the innings.

A brilliant innings from Ibrahim Zadran, explosive finishing by Towhid Hridoy, and a disciplined bowling performance led by Dilshan Madushanka helped Jaffna Kings secure a deserved 19-run victory over Colombo Kaps at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, continuing their strong run in the LPL 2026.
